The new US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has pledged to renew old alliances and forge new ones without attempting to "dictate" to the world.
Addressing Pentagon employees after taking oath in Washington‚ he said the US can't dictate to the world but it must engage the world wisely. He said we must lead with our allies.
Chuck Hagel said the US has great power and how we apply our power is particularly important.
