In occupied Kashmir‚ complete shutdown was observed for the eighth consecutive day

In occupied Kashmir‚ complete shutdown was observed for the eighth consecutive day‚ on Sunday‚ against hanging of Kashmiri youth Afzal Guru‚ by India.
According to Kashmir Media Service‚ call for strike was given by Hurriyet leader‚ Syed Ali Gilani which was also aimed at protesting against the killing of innocent protesters by Indian police and troops following the execution of Afzal Guru.
On the other hand‚ undeclared curfew remained in force at Nowhatta‚ Safa Kadal‚ Rajouri Kadal‚ Kawdara‚ Bahori Kadal‚ Zaina Kadal‚ Nawa Kadal and Noor Bagh in Srinagar to prevent people from holding protests against Guru's execution.
Indian authorities continued to place APHC Chairman‚ Mirwaiz Umar Farooq‚ and Syed Ali Gilani under house arrest in New Delhi and senior APHC leader‚ Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in Badgam.
A number of Hurriyet leaders and activists including Shabbir Ahmed Shah‚ Naayeem Ahmed Khan‚ Showkat Ahmed Bakhshi‚ Farooq Ahmed Dasr‚ Muhammad Rafiq Ganai‚ Muhammad Shafi Reshi and Muhammad Yousuf Nadeem also remained lodged at different police stations of occupied Kashmir.
