In occupied Kashmir‚ the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic
Political Movement‚ Firdous Ahmad Shah says India has turned the
occupied territory into a police state.
He stated this in Srinagar while enquiring about the health of people injured by Indian troops and police during peaceful protest demonstrations.
Firdous Ahmad Shah strongly denouncing the police action on peaceful demonstrators deplored that even women and children were not spared.
He also demanded the release of Hurriyet leaders and activists.
He appealed to the UN Secretary General‚ Ban Ki-moon and international human rights organizations to impress on India to fulfill its commitments made with the Kashmiris regarding the right of self-determination.
