Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said Pakistan-Iran gas
pipeline project carries much importance for energy-starved Pakistan and
is not directed against any other country.
In an interview‚ he said Pak-Iran gas pipeline project is basically aimed to meet energy requirements of the country.
He said the United States has not conveyed its reservation to Pakistan regarding the project at any forum. However‚ he said if Washington officially contacted Islamabad in this regard‚ the government is ready to negotiate.
The Minister said Pakistan is a responsible country and hopefully the United States will not impose any sanction because of Pak-Iran gas pipeline project.
